The 2024 West Wales Sea Kayak Meet is happening on the weekend of 13th and 14th July.

This charity event is for up to 100 experienced sea kayakers. Each person pays £50 into the pot and all profits are split equally between the Wales Air Ambulance and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. A payment of £10 per tent is made to the Phoenix Centre, they are also a charity.*

There will be a variety of trips on offer, some easy some more challenging. There are twenty guides who will pair up and decide which trips they are comfortable going on. They may or may not be qualified and it’s their choice if they tell you or not. They are there to help you find your way around and ensure that everyone stays together. They are not there to coach you or help you through conditions that are beyond you. If you need this then book a course or trip with Mayberry Kayaking instead. If you arrive at a location and the conditions are too much for you then don’t get on the water. They will look out for you but the message is that you are responsible for yourself.

Event base is to be The Phoenix Centre, Goodwick.

Useful Info

Camping will be at the Phoenix Centre between the football and the rugby field. Please, do not drive vehicles onto the grass. There is a large car park 100 yards from the site and campervans are welcome there. If you cannot manage the distance from there to your tent and back then you probably shouldn’t be going sea kayaking.

We will be in the Glendower (five minutes walk) from 7pm onwards on Friday 12th and look forward to seeing you there as you arrive. The address is Goodwick Sq Goodwick SA64 0DH.

If you are looking for a last minute bag of fish and chips then look for Dolphin Fish and Chips where Beaches Diner used to be or there is one opposite the Rose and Crown in Goodwick; Bernard at the Glendower doesn’t mind you having them on his tables out the front of his pub, be sure to buy a drink though!

On Saturday evening we will be at Phoenix Centre where we have the use of their bar b q, all you need is something to cook on it and the bar will be open! Please note, we do not supply cutlery, plates, any food or condiments on this weekend, you will need to bring your own!

OS Landranger 145 and 157 cover the Pembrokeshire Coast and Southern Ceredigion as does the C60 Imray Chart.
