Sea kayakers exploring the Pembrokeshire coast on a guided kayaking holiday

The Explorer

A 5-Day Pembrokeshire Sea Kayaking Holiday

14–18 June 2027 | 12–16 July 2027
5 days | £595 per person
Maximum 4 guests

If you want to spend several days exploring Pembrokeshire by sea kayak, but don’t want to commit to a demanding expedition or a week of big mileage, The Explorer could be just what you’re looking for.

Over five days we’ll explore different sections of the Pembrokeshire coast, choosing our destinations according to the weather, tides and sea conditions.

You’ll get to experience the variety that makes this such a special sea-kayaking destination: dramatic cliffs, quiet bays, headlands, beaches, wildlife and, when conditions allow, some of Pembrokeshire’s offshore islands.

And because we’re not tied to a fixed itinerary, we can make the most of whatever the sea gives us.

Five days. A different adventure every day.

One of the great things about Pembrokeshire is the sheer variety of its coastline.

The character of the coast changes dramatically as you travel around it, from the volcanic cliffs and exposed headlands in the north to the towering limestone cliffs and sweeping bays further south.

The Explorer gives us the freedom to sample that variety.

We might spend one day exploring the coast around St Davids, another following a different stretch of the western coastline, and another heading further south.

If conditions are right, we may head out towards an island or take on a more committing coastal journey.

The exact itinerary isn’t fixed months in advance.

And that’s deliberate.

We let the conditions choose the adventure

Sea kayaking is all about working with the sea rather than trying to dictate to it.

Wind direction, swell, tides and weather can make one section of coast perfect one day and completely unsuitable the next.

With a small group and an experienced local guide, we can make sensible decisions each morning and choose the best available adventure.

That might mean changing the plan.

It might mean paddling somewhere completely different.

Or it might mean discovering that the weather has handed us an opportunity that wasn’t even on the original plan.

That’s part of the fun.

More than just miles

We’re not interested in racing around the coastline trying to tick off as many places as possible.

There will be time to explore.

A beach to stop for lunch.

A cave worth investigating.

Wildlife to watch.

A spectacular coastline to appreciate.

And occasionally a good excuse simply to sit in the kayak and enjoy being there.

Pembrokeshire is best seen from the water, and sometimes the best moments are the ones that aren’t on the itinerary.

Wildlife along the way

Kayaks give us a wonderful way to experience Pembrokeshire’s marine environment.

Seals are regular companions, and depending on where we paddle and what the conditions bring, we may encounter dolphins, porpoises and an incredible variety of seabirds.

Nothing is guaranteed – and that’s part of the appeal.

We’re simply travelling quietly through their environment and seeing what turns up.

Who is The Explorer for?

The Explorer is aimed at paddlers who already have some sea-kayaking experience.

You should be comfortable spending a full day on the water and have enough experience to paddle confidently as part of a small group.

This isn’t a beginner course.

You don’t need to be an advanced paddler or an expedition specialist, though. If you’re an experienced recreational sea kayaker looking to explore more of Pembrokeshire, this is exactly the sort of trip we have in mind.

If you’re unsure whether your experience is suitable, give us a call or send us a message before booking.

A small group makes a big difference

There are a maximum of four guests on each Explorer date.

That gives us plenty of flexibility.

We’re not trying to move a large group around the coastline or force everyone to follow an itinerary that no longer makes sense because the wind has changed.

It’s simply a small group of paddlers, one experienced Mayberry guide and five days to explore one of Britain’s finest sea-kayaking destinations.
