Sea kayakers paddling beneath dramatic cliffs on the Pembrokeshire coast

Classics Week

Seven days. Some of Pembrokeshire’s finest sea kayaking.

28 June–4 July 2027
7 days | £795 per person
Maximum 4 guests

Pembrokeshire has some genuinely classic sea-kayaking journeys.

The Witches Cauldron. Strumble Head. Ramsey Island. Skomer and Skokholm. The Castlemartin coast.

These are places that deserve to be experienced from the sea.

Classics Week brings together some of the best and most spectacular sea-kayaking journeys around Pembrokeshire into one challenging week on the water.

This isn’t a leisurely sightseeing trip.

It’s a week for intermediate and advanced paddlers who want to put some miles in, explore some of the coast’s most dramatic locations and enjoy proper sea kayaking in good company.

The Pembrokeshire classics

The exact itinerary will depend on weather, swell, tides and conditions, but some of the journeys we may choose from include:

Witches Cauldron

One of Pembrokeshire’s most dramatic coastal features, best appreciated from the sea.

Strumble Head

An exposed and spectacular headland on the north Pembrokeshire coast, with tidal currents and open-water conditions adding to the adventure.

Ramsey Island

A classic Pembrokeshire sea-kayaking destination.

If conditions allow, we may also venture further out towards the Bishops and Clerks, making this a much more committing day on the water.

Skomer and Skokholm

The islands are spectacular from the water, particularly when the cliffs are alive with seabirds.

Depending on conditions and tides, a trip to the islands may also involve the coastline around St Ann’s Head.

Castlemartin Ranges

One of the great sections of the Pembrokeshire coast.

A journey here can include some extraordinary landmarks, including:

  • Huntsman’s Leap
  • Elegug Stacks
  • Stackpole Head
  • The Green Bridge of Wales
  • Dramatic sea cliffs, caves and arches along the Castlemartin coast

These aren’t places you simply tick off a list.

They’re journeys that make you appreciate why Pembrokeshire is such a special sea-kayaking destination.

Expect some big days

Classics Week is for paddlers who are comfortable putting the miles in.

We would typically expect days of 20 km or more, with up to around five hours in the kayak at a time.

Some of the places we want to reach are remote, and getting there may involve long sections of continuous paddling.

There may also be surf launches or landings, tidal races and exposed sections of coastline depending on the route and conditions.

For that reason, Classics Week is suitable for intermediate paddlers and above.

If you’re not sure whether your experience is sufficient, please talk to us before booking.

The itinerary is weather dependent

We won’t pretend we can decide in October exactly which coastline we’ll paddle on a particular day the following summer.

The sea doesn’t work like that.

Instead, we’ll use the forecast, tides, swell and local knowledge to choose the best journeys available during the week.

That could mean changing the order of the trips.

It could mean swapping one destination for another.

And occasionally, if conditions are exceptional, it could mean taking advantage of an opportunity we hadn’t originally planned.

That’s part of what makes a sea-kayaking holiday different from a coach tour.

A week with a small group

There are a maximum of four guests on Classics Week.

That’s important when you’re undertaking longer days and more committing journeys.

It means we can keep the group together, make sensible decisions around conditions and adapt the day to the people we’re paddling with.

You’ll be accompanied by one experienced Mayberry guide throughout the week.

Wildlife is part of the journey

Pembrokeshire’s classic kayaking destinations are also some of its best places for wildlife.

We may encounter grey seals, porpoises, dolphins and a huge variety of seabirds.

The islands are particularly spectacular during the breeding season, with cliffs alive with birds and the sea below often full of activity.

We don’t promise wildlife encounters.

But we’ll certainly keep our eyes open.
