Mayberry Kayaking as asks that guests only attend their booking if they have not shown any symptoms of COVID-19 at any time during the 14 days prior to attending a booking. We encourage you to read our COVID risk assessment here.

Mayberry Kayaking offers a range of courses to suit all levels of ability.  All courses are staffed by appropriately qualified staff. Staff to student ratios are in accordance with current BCU guidelines.  Whilst every reasonable attempt will be made to deliver courses, Mayberry Kayaking reserves the right to cancel or modify the courses, due to safety considerations and other factors beyond our control.

Liability and Insurance

Kayaking is a potentially dangerous activity.  All participants must be aware of this and accept the risks associated with these activities.  Whilst Mayberry Kayaking has an excellent safety record, responsibility for injury or illness arising from kayaking or associated activities can only be accepted if caused by negligence on the part of Mayberry Kayaking.

Mayberry Kayaking is under no liability whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to property, however caused, whilst on a course with Mike Mayberry Kayaking.

Participants are advised to arrange their own insurance cover.  Mayberry Kayaking is unable to offer any form of insurance cover (other than public liability).

Health and Safety Considerations

Due to the nature of Kayaking all participants should be physically fit.  Anyone with a medical condition must seek medical advice before considering participating.

All participants must be able to swim 25m and be confident swimming in open water.

All participants must be aged 8 or over.  All participants must complete a Consent Form.

Spectacles may be worn at the discretion of the course director.  It is recommend that spectacles are impact resistant with plastic lenses and frames.  The wearer must accept that injury may still occur if any form of spectacles are worn and accept full responsibility for any such injury.

Contact lenses may be worn by participants.

Course participants will not be permitted to consume alcohol or drugs prior to or during canoe courses.  The staff reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Coaches and guides may require any participant to leave the course if that person acts in any such manner as to endanger him/herself or any other participant.  The course director may require any participant to leave the course if that person is not of a suitable standard to be on that particular course.

Disabilities

Disabled persons are welcome to participate in courses.  Please send details of your specific needs at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Mayberry Kayaking must be informed of any medical conditions (asthma, epilepsy, deafness etc.) or any other special needs of any/all participants.

Equipment and Clothing

Kayaks, buoyancy aids, cagoules, spray decks, helmets and paddles will be supplied by Mayberry Kayaking where necessary.

Participants must provide all other equipment and will be supplied with a checklist at the time of booking.

Damage or loss to Mayberry Kayaking equipment caused by negligence, malicious acts or carelessness must be paid for at the time at current replacement value.

Bookings and Payments

Bookings can be made as follows:

No provisional bookings will be accepted.

A 25% deposit is payable at the time of booking.

Balance of payment must be received 14 days prior to the course at which point pre-course information will be sent.

If booking within 14 days of the course date, we require the full payment at the time of booking.

Cancellations, Refunds or Transfers

Should you cancel your booking for any reason more than 14 days before your course commences, the initial deposit will be forfeited.

Should you cancel your booking for any reason less than 14 days before your course commences, there will be no refunds and the full amount will be payable.

Should you wish to transfer to another course you will be charged the following administration fees:

– Loss of initial course deposit if you transfer more than 14 days before the course commences.

– Loss of 50% of the total course fees if you transfer less than 14 days before the course commences.

Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that courses/activities run, Mayberry Kayaking will notify the customer as soon as practicable where it believes on reasonable grounds that cancellation is necessary due to dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions for the course/activity.

Mayberry Kayaking will notify the customer of cancellation no less than two days prior to the commencement of the course where numbers as a result of either customer(s) cancellation or booked numbers have failed to reach a workable minimum.

In the event of a cancellation customers will be offered the choice of the following options:

Full refund of the fee paid; or

Another booking on a different date.

Privacy policy

We may use your email to stay in touch and send you details of our offers and deals from time to time.

We may take photographs during your activity for promotional purposes. All photographs will be made available to you for free via our Facebook page.

We do not record any of your credit or debit card information.
